Hi, I'm Jennie Anne--I recently graduated from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law with my J.D. and completed my undergraduate at Franklin & Marshall College, a top liberal arts school, earning my dual degree in Astrophysics and Philosophy. I am fully capable of tutoring math up through Linear Algebra/Differential Equations (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus I, Calculus II, Calculus III, and more!) and any sort of physics or astronomy at any level. I have tutored extensively in both subject areas with which I am familiar and those with which I am relatively unfamiliar, and can assist students in understanding and writing papers about history, philosophy, psychology, sociology, literature, and more. (In fact, I once tutored a student for several months for the final course for her Masters in Counseling Studies!) I am able to provide test-taking advice and simulation, as well as assist in organizing papers and developing effective study habits. In college, I worked for the school tutoring students and as a teaching assistant in physics and astronomy classes. However, I have also tutored students in elementary school through high school, as well as students studying to get their GED.

I love tutoring students and work very hard to meet each student where he/she is, and will continue to explain a concept in as many ways as possible until the student has a firm grasp of it and feels good about his/her knowledge of it. I am extremely well aware of the differences in learning styles among students, and as such work very hard to adapt my tutoring style to each particular student. It is very important to me that students develop a sense of confidence in their own abilities, and I try to promote one whenever I can.

I hope that you'll contact me about working together to enhance you or your child's learning experience! I look forward to hearing from you!

All the best,
Jennie Anne

Approved Subjects

Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

I took a course at Franklin & Marshall College on Linear Algebra (and Differential Equations) and received a grade of A-. As an astrophysics major, I have also used linear algebra extensively in the context of physics--particularly in quantum mechanics--so I am very familiar with its applications. I am also capable of integrating linear algebra into computation-based projects using programs like Wolfram's Mathematica.
Philosophy

Philosophy

I have my BA in philosophy.
Study Skills

Study Skills

I graduated in the top 10% of my high school class and have been taking college classes since the age of 14 (7 years ago), so I have a lot of experience developing and implementing effective study techniques. I have also tutored extensively with a focus on study skills, particularly when I tutored a woman for her master's degree in counseling studies--an area in which I have no academic background. I was therefore able to tutor her successfully primarily due to my knowledge of study skills and effective study habits. Additionally, I have tutored both children and adults so I know which study techniques are most effective for each demographic.

Made impossible, seem possible

Excellent explanations and great personality. She really works with my daughter to guide her to the right solutions. Showed her shortcuts and tips to make Calculus seem easier.

Nice and reassuring

Fine tutor for my daughter. She was struggling with her test and they went over her test review for the test the next day and she made a 93 on it. So the session really helped. Only reason I ‘m hesitant to give five stars is even while she was nice and reassuring to my daughter of her work the tutor although seemed unsure of things I overheard her say “I guess so” when my daughter asked about a problem. That however didn’t make me feel confident she knew but then my daughter did make 93 so she’s good. I will probably use her again and see how it goes.

Excellent tutor

Our daughter Lylah is a great student and hopes to get into a competitive college. Math is her one challenge. She is a junior in high school and has had a tutor since fourth grade, but her long term tutor could not help her with calculus. Jennie Anne stepped in and has done an excellent job with Lylah. She is extremely knowledgeable and Lylah likes very much working with her. Five stars!

Sweet, understanding and super smart!!

I absolutely LOVE Jennie! She is the first tutor I truly felt comfortable with. She is excellent at explaining calculus concepts to me --really helping me understand things that were glossed over in my classes. I've had more than 5 sessions with her and will certainly meet with her in the future.

Excellent tutor for AP Calculus!

JJennie was very patient with my daughter. She took the time to explain AP Calculus concepts/problems in detail. We had contacted her the day of. She responded quickly and accommodated us the same day! I recommend her without reservations. To make the most of the session, send her the material in advance.
