Conservatory-trained violinist — 40 years teaching, all ages and level

Zhana G.

Violin

I hold a Master's degree in violin performance and teaching from the Tbilisi State Music Conservatory and have taught violin for over forty years — twenty of them at the Tbilisi State Music School, and since then in the United States. I am still a working orchestral violinist. I have played with the Greenwich Village Orchestra since 2013, and previously with the Park Avenue Chamber Orchestra and the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra in Punta Gorda, Florida. In Georgia I played with the Tbilisi State Symphony Orchestra and the Tbilisi State Opera House Orchestra. I teach children from age five and adults at every level, including complete beginners and returning players. I completed Suzuki teacher training at The School for Strings in New York and work in both the Suzuki and traditional methods, choosing whichever suits the student. Students from my studio have performed at Carnegie Hall many times since 2013. Every lesson covers technique, theory, repertoire and practice strategy, shaped around what that student needs that week. My job as a teacher is to help you find a place for music in your daily life, and to make practice feel more like discovery than work. Lessons take place in my studio at 131 Fifth Avenue in Flatiron, or online. Available in English, Russian or Georgian.
