I've been a professional actor for many years, so I am very good at communicating with people. I have a very warm, outgoing, fun personality and can make the dry subject of math very interesting.

I have recently earned my Master of Arts in Mathematics after graduating Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Mathematics. I minored in Logic. My Math

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have had dozens of Algebra 1 students, and I feel that it is a subject in which my teaching style really shines. Algebra 1 is a difficult subject for many students, because it is an entirely new way of thinking. When I teach Algebra 1, I really try to stress intuition over memorization of techniques and mindless repetition, because I believe algebra is actually quite straightforward if it is taught in a natural way. I aim for "light bulb moments" in which my students learn a concept they'll never forget

Algebra 2 is one of my most tutored subjects. I have helped students study Algebra 2 for many hours. I am always refining my teaching methods, and I find new approaches to teaching the topics of Algebra 2 almost every day. I have also learned which topics are commonly forgotten by students over a year of geometry (this gap in algebra is one of the biggest reasons a tutor can be so important during Algebra 2). So if you're feeling overwhelmed by all the material you are expected to remember from Algebra 1, I can get you back on track with Algebra 2 and build your confidence fast.

I have tutored Geometry for several years. I am very adept at getting students to see how the angles, proportions, lines and shapes are related to one another. The mental visualization of shapes and lines the student learns when I teach them the principles of geometery are crucial to their studies and are easily applied to other areas of math, when needed. Geometry is beautiful and actually fun!!

I got straight A's in Basic as well as Advanced Linear Algebra, and have tutored this subject for a few years. I am adept at clarifying the concepts of: systems of linear equations, matrices, determinants, vector spaces, linear transformations, basis, dimensions, canonical forms, inner product spaces, bilinear forms, eigenvalues, eigenvectors and complex vector spaces.

I am also skilled at tutoring the concepts of Advanced Linear Algebra such as tensor products, Hilbert spaces, modules, and much more!!

I can clarify these topics very well using examples, in addition to going over the theories step by step.

I minored in Logic and got all A’s in the courses. I have tutored logic extensively - both basic and advanced Logic.

I am well versed in the concepts involved and am adept in clarifying the basic ideas:

logical truth and falsehood, logical equivalence, consistency and validity. I can shed light on propositional logic, show how to evaluate for the different logical properties using regular and short truth tables as well as truth trees. For predicate logic, we will again rely on truth trees as well as the construction of interpretations.

I show the student how to become more adept at determining the meaning of a sentence and determining what other sentences may follow from it, entail it, be equivalent to it, or be consistent with it. I can show you the difference between predicate logic and sentential logic and how to do derivations (or proofs) in sentential logic as well as in predicate logic.

At the advanced level we distinguish more thoroughly between the sentential and predicate level.

I have had many prealgebra students, and I have worked with all different learning styles and personalities. Along the way, I have found that prealgebra is a subject in which private tutoring can have a huge impact. It is important for a student to build a lot of intuition during this critical period before Algebra 1, and having a private tutor for one-on-one discussions can make the difference. Many of my students have seen an improvement of a letter grade or more on tests after only a couple of sessions, and some have said that our sessions have been the difference between hating and loving math altogether.

I have tutored the Mathematics portion of the SAT numerous times in the past. Throughout, I discuss solving strategies with the student, so that they understand what to expect and how to approach the questions.

The example problems in a practice exam cover ALL of the material you will see on the test, (which, by the way, ONLY covers up to Algebra). So now, you just have to understand the limited number of concepts that you will be tested on.

If you choose me to tutor you in SAT Math, I recommend you buy a practice exam book (with answers, no explanations needed because I will help you understand the concepts as we go) - only about $10 on Amazon, also available at a bookstore - and then take your first practice exam before we meet for the first time. Or, we can take the test together, if you prefer.

During our first session we will go over each question to make sure you understand perfectly the ones you got right and then go in to depth on the concepts you missed. We can also cover guessing strategies if necessary, but I strive to eliminate the guesswork for your testing.

Trigonometry, the branch of mathematics dealing with the relations of the sides and angles of triangles and sine, cosine and tangent, is fun to teach because of all of the real-life applications. I am a believer in teaching why unit circle trigonometry is so useful, how it is related to basic triangle trigonometry and where it comes from. I have tons of experience teaching this subject because it is an integral part of most Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus courses.
