When students work with me, they look forward to our sessions. Whether writing that oh, so tricky, college essay; learning English as a second language (ESL); modifying their accent; or working on grammar, literature, public speaking, or business English - our sessions are fun!

I have 20+ years experience from teaching high school through graduate school students as well as adult learners. My work has taken me to China as a Foreign Expert, Turkey with the State Department, and Bhutan, working at the Royal University. I have taught teens with medical obstacles; business professionals in finance and IT; refuges at a flower "factory;" performers in many fields; and folks just wanting to improve their communication skills. I have presented seminars, mini courses, and extended classes for government and military groups; introduced new immigrants to American culture; and helped countless people rehearse for interviews. My Instructor's Manual for a top accent reduction text is used across the country.

I edit and organize other people's writing, too. This includes college applications, thesis work, and technical documents. Med school and other graduate/professional students have worked with me to create clean, balanced submissions.

Each client is unique and is treated that way. Your goals are obtainable: step by step, with a plan.
I truly love what I do.

NOTE:
I am an accent reduction SPECIALIST. Many people teach English/ESL. I will teach you how to move your mouth, learn what repeated errors you are making, and understand why (culturally and physically) these tiny mispronunciations happen. Our goal is not just to speak/repeat -but to habitualize the preferred pronunciation.

She is truly amazing

Suzie is one of the smartest people I’ve ever met. I’m lucky to have her as my professor or tutor because I learn so much from her and she truly has helped me. I told her about my issues in regards to my jaw pain whenever I’m speaking english. She helped me solve that problem after just 2 sessions with her. I also hate my filipino accent so she helps me get rid of it. I’m happy to say that ever since I started working with Suzie, my accent has decreased significantly, I can talk for hours without experiencing jaw pain, my confidence has increased, and I definitely feel that I’m starting to speak more of the American accent. I can’t say enough great things about Suzie, she truly is the best in her field and I’m so happy about my improvements on my speech. Thank you so much Suzie! I hope we can continue to work together and with your help, I will excel in my field of business using my great communication skills.

Professional and personable tutor

I took English lessons focusing on American accent with Suzie. My spoken English is fluent and my accent is not strong, so I was looking for a professional teacher that could pinpoint even minute accent flaws and help me reduce them. Suzie did a great job at that and was always friendly and fun to work with. I highly recommend working with her!

Great experience!

I’ve had a few sessions with Suzie already, and I really like her teaching style. Every time we meet, she starts with casual conversations followed by a little bit of recap from last session. And in the meantime, she takes notes on every mistake I make so that she can correct me later. She also prepares specific fun exercises target to my weaknesses. My experience with Suzie builds up my confidence of improving my spoken English!

Absolutely amazing tutor!

Suzie is the best English tutor I have ever had. She is exceptionally well-prepared, very engaged from 1st to very last minute of the lesson and at the same time full of positive energy and motivating support. I was waiting with writing a review to check if it's not only the first impression. Now I'm after 10 meetings and even more impressed with each. Always looking forward my next lesson with her.

Excellent tutor

Suzie is an excellent teacher, especially for oral English skills. I have been working with her for a few months and I am very happy with the results. I have focused on oral English, and pronunciation in particular. Suzie has a real talent to detect all the mistakes I make and to correct my enunciation. Unlike other teachers, she has a great experience in teaching and this has a huge impact on how much I learn and how fast I improve my communication abilities. I highly recommend her for anyone who wishes to improve his English skills.
