I was born in Peru and was raised in New York City. I have a BA in Spanish Literature from Queens College. I have worked as a Spanish High School teacher, as well as, an Executive Assistant in the financial sector. I also speak Portuguese, Italian and French.
I bring to the table different experiences in the academic, as well as, the corporate world and both have utilized my skills as a teacher, translator and interpreter. I am patient, creative and flexible. I want to get to know the person so that I can learn how they learn a language. Everyone is different. The session will be set up for him/her alone and their respective needs. I have taught from ages 8 - 45 and I love a challenge. There is nothing more rewarding than having a student finally achieve their goal of speaking and understanding a language and its nuances.

With so many tutors to chose from I am pleased to have found Laura. Patient, courteous, diligent and completely knowledgeable in various subjects. Laura makes the learning experience fun and easy to comprehend. I wish I found her sooner!
I really got lucky with Laura. It was such a pleasure working with her and I will look no further for a Spanish tutor. Laura is warm and has a great sense of humor. The lesson was never boring for a second. She's a real treasure and I highly recommend her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I was born in Peru, South America and my expertise as a teacher is in Spanish. I have taught Spanish to students from 8 years of age to adulthood. I pride myself in tailoring my classes to the student's specific needs. This is what makes it challenging and rewarding. Learning a language is fun and exciting and I like to express that in my classes.
I started doing Yoga when I was 14 years of age on my own. Bought a little book and started practicing the exercises. Little did I know that this book would embark me on a journey that 27 years later would make me an Anusara Elementals Yoga Teacher, as well as, an Integral Yoga Beginners I Yoga teacher. I have taught privately on a one-to-one basis for over 5 years and I currently teaching Yoga to Alzheimer's patients in a nursing home.
I currently practice Anusara Yoga which is a very heart-centered yoga. I find it to be wonderful for improving your flexibility, balance, toning, as well as, releasing stress, depression. It also makes internal changes which guides you to be a better human being.
