If you're worried that your SAT or ACT score won't reflect your true ability and potential, you've found the right person.

Since 2013, I have been guiding students toward higher scores on both the SAT & ACT. My key to providing top-tier effectiveness is to combine insights from graduate level work in cognitive psychology with nearly ten years of teaching and tutoring experience.

With each lesson, my first step is to learn about my student. I want to understand who my student is as a test-taker and as a person. I then tailor my instruction for that student. Why? Because personal connection is a necessary ingredient for effective tutoring. As we proceed, I foster and build on the student's natural abilities. Whether a student is intellectually gifted or requires specialized instruction, I always proceed at a pace and in a style that instills confidence and delivers results.

As a career test prep tutor and instructor to entry-level tutors, I embody the three keys to tutoring excellence: mastery over the material, the ability to communicate that material effectively and the ability to connect with and inspire my students. My students like me, but they understand that I hold them to high standard.

Students are surprised that I don't inundate them with homework. I offer reasonable amount of homework and pair it with clear learning goals. Eventually I do assign practice tests. These practice tests provide vital real-time feedback, allowing me to assess where students are improving and where they still have opportunities for improvement. What's more, it allows parents to track the students' improvement as to ensure they are receiving a return on investment.

As for my background, I have master's degrees in psychology and statistics. And because it's popular to say here, I scored 36 on the ACT and 1590 on the SAT.

The Writing Section is tough even for students who are good writers. Some students are naturally able to identify problematic phrases, but for most, they must learn the specific techniques for the Writing Section. More than any other SAT section, the SAT Writing Section is the most learnable and the easiest to improve.

Unsure about your college entrance essay? I help students write winning essays that compel admissions officers to move students from "maybe?" to "accepted!" To briefly explain the process, I start by exploring a student's qualities. Together, we then sort through these qualities until we find our pitch: a central message that will pique the interest and curiosity of even the most tired-eyed reader. From there, we craft an engaging narrative that communicates our potent message. The fact is every student has a story to tell that will win the hearts and minds of even the most cynical admissions officers. I help them tell it. Parents and Students, you've already done the hard work. Let's capitalize on it.

College Counseling

College Counseling

I have been in academia for 10 years, and I've been accepted to two competitive Master's programs. I'm available to help students with admissions essay writing. With each student, I go through a 5-Step essay development process: Step 1: We discuss the type of college you are applying to. We then scout the various college websites for keywords that the admissions people drop when they discuss their ideal applicants. Step 2: We discuss how you will be an asset to the colleges you are choosing. Aside from your academic interests we explore your character, spirit and personality. Step 3: We write your essay. Getting the important points on paper that we discussed in Step 2 is actually the easiest part. Because I'm aware how important it is for your application to be as competitive as possible, I give you the option of allowing me to help you with writing style and mechanics. This is completely up to you. Step 4: We end for the day, and I call in a few favors from some Ph.D. friends of mine who have been on admissions committees. They take a couple minutes to read your essay and present me with their opinions. Step 5: Based on the professional opinions that I've sought out (and after sleeping over the essay we wrote), we edit the essay to make it as communicative and impactful as possible. Overall, this is a 3 to 4 hour process.

Outstanding SAT tutor

My son is very happy that he has exceeded his SAT score goal and has improved 150 points from his original score. Thanks Ari for the experienced instruction and structured learning plans that help him succeed!

Great SAT tutor!

Very knowledgeable and experienced and helps motivates my son to do his best on the SAT. Very patient. My son enjoys working with him. Would recommend him to others.

Alice, 5 lessons with Ari

Very professional and knowledgeable

I feel hopeful that Ari's help will raise my daughter's SAT score. It is ultimately up to her. He has some valuable insight regarding the language arts portion of the test.

Dorel, 5 lessons with Ari

Patient Tutor!

If you do the work, you will get results! My daughter does not have a lot of confidence in test taking. The preparation and guidance from Ari is definitely helping her to build her confidence.

Denise, 6 lessons with Ari

Patient and analytical

Ari related to my son well and knew what areas to focus on for him. We don't have his results backbyet, but if the practice tests are a good indication, I would expect him to pick up 100 points on math.

Jonathan, 8 lessons with Ari

Dedicated Tutor

Ari takes his tutoring above and beyond what other tutors do. He takes a strong interest in making sure his students succeed.

Ron, 6 lessons with Ari

Engaging

Ari is able to engage his students and keep them focused on material presented. He also let's them know activities outside of school are good, too. He is a great tutor.
