Hello! I received my B.S. from New York University where I majored in Neuroscience and minored in Spanish and Chemistry. Currently I am finishing up my M.S. in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Neuroscience.
Throughout these many years of schooling, I have encountered various situations where a certain concept was hard for me to grasp in the classroom setting. This resulted in me spending countless hours trying to learn by myself. Every now and then I would have a tutor that would explain a problematic topic in five minutes which would have me in awe because what took me weeks to understand, they were able to swiftly and clearly explain it to me. That is what I hope to achieve here. Taking my tutors as inspiration, I began explaining concepts to my college friends.
Prior to this, I tutored at Kumon where I was responsible for teaching students whose ages ranged from 5-15. I'd help them with English and Math. Each kid has a different method of teaching that they require, and I was able to master that which made the learning process very enjoyable for them. I've been tutoring on a voluntary basis the past 8 years.
My typical method or approach would be asking my student what topic is hard for them to understand. I then break that down into very small pieces and have a lego approach where I'll make sure each part of this topic is crystal clear before building on that. It has proven successful so far!
