I'm an incoming mathematics student at the University of Chicago, and I've spent the last few years going deep into college-level math while helping other students fall in love with it too. While still in high school, I took eight college courses concurrently at Fresno State, ranging from Calculus III, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and Real Analysis up through a graduate-level course in abstract algebra, and I earned an A in every one. I'm an incoming mathematics student at the University of Chicago, and I've spent the last few years going deep into college-level math while helping other students fall in love with it too. While still in high school, I took eight college courses concurrently at Fresno State, ranging from Calculus III, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and Real Analysis up through a graduate-level course in abstract algebra, and I earned an A in every one. I also carried out research with Dr. Tamás Forgács on degree sequences of hyperbolicity-preserving linear operators, which we submitted to the PUMP Journal of Undergraduate Research on July 27, 2026. On the SAT, I scored 780 in math and 1550 overall.

My tutoring has been hands-on. I founded a tutoring club at my school and used it to tutor students in our transition program, the ones who needed the help most. I also tutored at Mathnasium, working with students on prealgebra, precalculus, and SAT math prep. Across those settings I learned how differently each student thinks, and how to keep adjusting until they understand the material.

My approach centers on intuition over memorization. I want students to understand why a method works, not only how to repeat it.

Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

I scored a 780 on the SAT Math section on my first attempt and a 1550 overall. The ACT Math section covers a nearly identical scope (up to precalculus), with greater emphasis on speed than rigor compared to the SAT. In high school, I helped many of my friends and Mathnasium tutees study for and do well on standardized test math, including the ACT. My tutoring style for the ACT math section involves going over all tested topics with a focus on intuitive understanding rather than memorization. For the ACT specifically, I emphasize timed practice with harder ACT questions so that when you get to the test, the pacing feels easy, as pacing is usually the biggest hurdle on this test.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

High school algebra is the most fundamental prerequisite for higher mathematics and requires mastery to excel in these topics. Because I have excelled in topics far beyond algebra through undergraduate math courses like multivariable calculus/differential equations and even graduate ones like abstract algebra, I have mastered the topic of high school algebra. My tutoring style for algebra largely depends on how you/your child likes to learn math. I have extensive tutoring experience with the topic via a tutoring club for those in the transition program (a district program helping students with special needs excel) I started in high school, in which algebra was the primary topic. At Mathnasium, a tutoring center similar to Kumon in which I volunteered for four years, I was able to gain experience tutoring kids of all ages in every subject from addition/subtraction to AP Stats/competition math/AP Calculus.
Algebra 2

AMC (Competition math)

AMC (Competition math)

I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring AMC-level material. Throughout middle and high school, I was part of the Fresno State Math Circle, where we met weekly to prepare for that week/month and practice the material. The AMC was a major focus of these sessions. With regard to tutoring, as a member of the local Mathnasium throughout my high school years, AMC/competition-math was one of the most sought-after points of preparation for members, so I received a lot of practice conveying the strategies/topics needed to do well on these examinations. Competition math is a far different study when compared with typical high-school math, as competition math takes the scope of high-school math, extends it slightly, then tests it rigorously with problems that can not be solved simply via rote application and instead require good mathematical intuition and problem-solving skills. I believe that, throughout my experience teaching/practicing competition math, as well as taking advanced coursework like multivariable calculus, real analysis, abstract algebra, linear algebra, etc., at my local college as a high school student, I have been able to master these skills.
C++

C++

I am a UChicago Math/CS undergraduate student, and I have been programming since I was 10, working extensively in C++ and similar general-purpose languages like Python and JS to build games and bots. I have experience with the more theoretical side, studying online Algorithms and ML courses through the Stanford/MIT series. I also earned a 5 on the AP Computer Science Principles exam, and my strong math background allows me to convey the algorithmic and mathematical thinking C++ is often used for. My tutoring style focuses on intuitive understanding rather than memorization, so students understand what's happening under the hood.
Calculus

Calculus

I have been able to master the topics of calculus through taking it myself and further through applying the skills learned to more advanced coursework like multivariable calculus, differential equations, and real analysis, which are courses that I took and received A's in through my local university (Fresno State) while in high school. Calculus was also the most sought-after subject during my four years volunteering at Mathnasium, a tutoring center similar to Kumon, so I received a lot of practice conveying the topics needed to do well in the course, especially AP Calculus. My tutoring style focuses, especially for Calculus, on intuitive understanding rather than memorization, since I believe it is much easier to succeed in the course and future courses if you really understand what's going on. I like 3Blue1Brown's style of teaching for calculus and invoke a similar one with my students.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

Elementary math builds the number sense and foundations that all later mathematics depends on, and it's where I have the most hands-on tutoring experience. During my four years volunteering at Mathnasium, a tutoring center similar to Kumon, I tutored kids of all ages in every subject starting from addition/subtraction. I also started a tutoring club in high school for those in the transition program (a district program helping students with special needs excel). My tutoring style for elementary math largely depends on how you/your child likes to learn math, with a focus on applied examples so they are able to see what's going on.
Finite Math

Finite Math

I have been able to master the topics of finite math through more advanced coursework that builds directly on them, like linear algebra, multivariable calculus, real analysis, abstract algebra etc., which are courses that I took and excelled in through the local college while in high school. I also gained extensive tutoring experience with its core topics like probability/matrices via my four years volunteering at Mathnasium, a tutoring center similar to Kumon. My tutoring style for topics introductory to high mathematics, like discrete math, focuses on intuitive understanding rather than memorization, since I believe it is much easier to succeed in the course and future courses, if you really understand what's going on.
Geometry

Geometry

I have been able to master the topics of geometry through taking it myself and further through my extensive experience teaching/practicing competition math through the Fresno State Math Circle, where geometry problems are a huge focus. I also gained extensive tutoring experience with the topic via my four years volunteering at Mathnasium, a tutoring center similar to Kumon. My tutoring style focuses, especially for Geometry, on intuitive understanding rather than memorization, since I believe it is much easier to succeed in the course and future courses if you really understand what's going on.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra is my favorite topic to teach and, in my opinion, one of the most intuitive to understand when taught right. I have been able to master the relevant topics through taking linear algebra myself and further through applying the skills learned to more advanced coursework like real analysis and abstract algebra, which are courses that I took and excelled in through the local college while in high school. My tutoring style focuses, especially for Linear Algebra, on intuitive understanding rather than rote computation/memorization, since I believe it is much easier to succeed in the course and future courses if you really understand what's going on.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra is the foundation for high school algebra and everything beyond it, and requires mastery to excel in these topics. Because I have excelled in topics far beyond prealgebra through undergraduate math courses like multivariable calculus and even graduate ones like abstract algebra, which I took through the local college while in high school, I have mastered the topic. My tutoring style for prealgebra largely depends on how you/your child likes to learn math. I have extensive tutoring experience at this level via a tutoring club I started in high school for those in the transition program (a district program helping students with special needs excel), as well as at Mathnasium, a tutoring center similar to Kumon in which I volunteered for four years.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I have been able to master the topics of precalculus through taking it myself and further through applying the skills learned to more advanced coursework like multivariable calculus and abstract algebra, which are courses that I took and excelled in through the local college while in high school. Probability

Probability

Probability and statistics are my favorites when it comes to teaching and even learning. Both topics can be understood in a very intuitive way if taught properly. I have practiced the topics extensively via my self-study of machine learning and my extensive experience teaching/practicing competition math, where probability is a huge focus, through the Fresno State Math Circle, my study of AP Stats in high school, which I received a 5 in, and college-level math courses like real analysis, problem-solving and abstract algebra which I took and excelled in as a high school student.
Real Analysis

Real Analysis

Analysis is a topic I have extensive practice with. During high school, I self-studied introductory Real Analysis and then formally took Real Analysis II at Fresno State as a high school student, receiving an A. I fell in love with the topic and continued pursuing it through academic research with my analysis professor, Dr. Tamas Forgacs; as a result, we published a paper on an analytic subtopic concerning the degree sequences of hyperbolicity preservers in early July, 2026. Real analysis is probably THE topic of mathematical intuition (my favorite way of approaching math), as it makes infinitesimal calculus make sense.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I received a 780 on the math SAT on my first attempt, as well as a 1550 overall SAT score. In high school, I helped many of my friends and Mathnasium tutees study for and do well on the math portion of the SAT. My tutoring style for the SAT math section involves going over all SAT math topics with a focus on intuitive understanding rather than memorization, so students can solve the broad range of questions tested within the SAT's relatively narrow math scope (up to precalculus). I also put a high emphasis on practice, going over relevant, specific SAT questions every time I teach a topic.
SAT Reading

SAT Reading

Working as a tutor, I have helped peers students improve their math and reading sub scores on the SAT via peer tutoring through my high school. I have also taken and excelled on the exam personally, achieving a 1550 score with a 770 reading subscore in a single sitting. I understand the demands of the exam, specifically pertaining to the pace/rigor of the second portion of the reading section, which is where students struggle most. I also am proficient on grammar sections of the exam and have a logical approach with regards to tutoring for this so that students are able to get every grammar question right.
SHSAT (NY HS admissions)

As a UChicago student, although I haven't personally taken the SHSAT, I have taught students for the exam and am familiar with both the math and verbal sections, as well as the exam's specific speed requirements. My own standardized testing background is strong, as I have received a 780 on SAT Math and a 770 on SAT Reading in a single attempt, and I have years of experience preparing students for competitive, time-pressured math through four years volunteering at Mathnasium and teaching competition math like the AMC through the Fresno State Math Circle. My tutoring style focuses on intuitive understanding of the tested material rather than memorization, paired with timed practice on harder questions so that the real test feels manageable. Because pacing is usually the biggest hurdle on the SHSAT, I place a high emphasis on building speed by having students work through difficult problems under timed pressure.
Statistics

On the tutoring side, I gained extensive experience with the topic via my four years at Mathnasium, a tutoring center similar to Kumon, where it came up regularly in precalculus and calculus preparation. My tutoring style focuses, especially for Trigonometry, on intuitive understanding rather than memorization, since I believe it is much easier to succeed in the course and future courses if you really understand what's going on.
