Hello! I'm Maya, I am a multidisciplinary designer and I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Oregon with a degree in Product Design and minors in Multimedia, Science Communication and Global Service.
Through my education and work, I have over 6 years of experience in visual design using the Adobe Suite, especially using Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop, while editing videos in Premier. With these skills, I have worked for a range of clients including startups, large NGOs, university marketing teams, clothing brands and advertising agencies.
Additionally, I have designed products using hand sketching techniques, 3D modeling in Rhino CAD and rendering designs using tools like Enscape and Keyshot.
In terms of teaching: I have several years of experience teaching since I was in high school. Throughout my teaching career, I have enjoyed teaching a range of subjects, from: swim lessons, English (while I lived in France) and, most recently, art and design as a Princeton in Asia Fellow at Liger Leadership Academy in Cambodia last year.
There, I taught over 150 Khmer middle schoolers how to create using Adobe Suite tools and bring their ideas to life using sketching, 3D modeling and rendering. My approach to teaching creative tools includes clear, detailed instruction, one-on-one guidance, feedback, and guiding fun, step-by-step creative projects for students to become comfortable using tools on their own while engaging in creative expression and problem-solving.
By the end, students will master the tools themselves so they can grow into independent designers and creatives!
