Hi, I’m Adam! I recently graduated with a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Pennsylvania and currently work as a postdoctoral fellow in New York City. While I love doing research, my favorite part of science has always been teaching. I have over a decade of experience teaching, mentoring, and tutoring undergraduate and graduate students in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, and physics. I also helped lead workshops teaching high school students the principles of genetics and gene editing. These experiences were all very rewarding and I’m passionate about helping students tackle tough STEM concepts.
My goal as a tutor is to translate advanced biology, chemistry, and physics concepts into clear, engaging, and manageable ideas. I also aim to help students develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed for long-term academic success. Feel free to reach out anytime with questions or to schedule a lesson!

Approved Subjects

Genetics

Genetics

My PhD was in Cell and Molecular Biology, but my graduate group sub-specification was in Genetics & Epigenetics, so I received years of advanced training in genetics. I have over a decade of research experience studying how genetic mutations drive neurological disease in humans. I also spent a semester during my PhD as a teaching assistant for a course on genome regulation.
Neuroscience

Neuroscience

My PhD was in Cell and Molecular Biology, but my research was specifically about cellular mechanisms maintaining neuronal homeostasis. My thesis, which was titled "Mechanisms linking mitochondrial dynamics, microtubule motors, and neurological disease" made significant contributions to our understanding of neurodevelopmental disease, such as Fragile X Syndrome, and neurodegenerative disease, such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
