Hello! My name is Stella, and I am currently pursuing my M.A. in Psychology at Columbia University's Teachers College after earning my B.S. in Neuroscience from High Point University. My academic background has provided me with a strong foundation in psychology, neuroscience, biology, research methods, and study skills, and I enjoy helping students gain confidence while mastering challenging material.
I have experience working with students across a variety of age groups and educational settings. Through America Reads at Columbia University, I provide instructional support in 4th-grade math and science, working with students in both small-group and classroom settings. I also deliver individualized tutoring to students who need additional academic support. At High Point University, I tutored college students in Biopsychology and Introduction to Psychology, helping them improve their understanding of complex concepts and strengthen their academic performance. In addition, I served as a Student Instructor for Introductory Psychology courses, where I held office hours, answered student questions, and led exam review sessions.
My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and personalized to each student's learning needs. I believe that students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and actively engaging with the material. Whether I am helping an elementary student build foundational math and science skills, supporting a high school student with coursework, or assisting college students with psychology and study strategies, I focus on breaking concepts into manageable steps and building confidence along the way. My goal is to create a positive learning environment where students feel supported, motivated, and capable of reaching their academic goals.
