Hello! My name is Stella, and I am currently pursuing my M.A. in Psychology at Columbia University's Teachers College after earning my B.S. in Neuroscience from High Point University. My academic background has provided me with a strong foundation in psychology, neuroscience, biology, research methods, and study skills, and I enjoy helping students gain confidence while mastering challenging material.

I have experience working with students across a variety of age groups and educational settings. Through America Reads at Columbia University, I provide instructional support in 4th-grade math and science, working with students in both small-group and classroom settings. I also deliver individualized tutoring to students who need additional academic support. At High Point University, I tutored college students in Biopsychology and Introduction to Psychology, helping them improve their understanding of complex concepts and strengthen their academic performance. In addition, I served as a Student Instructor for Introductory Psychology courses, where I held office hours, answered student questions, and led exam review sessions.

My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and personalized to each student's learning needs. I believe that students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and actively engaging with the material. Whether I am helping an elementary student build foundational math and science skills, supporting a high school student with coursework, or assisting college students with psychology and study strategies, I focus on breaking concepts into manageable steps and building confidence along the way. My goal is to create a positive learning environment where students feel supported, motivated, and capable of reaching their academic goals.

Approved Subjects

Neuroscience

Neuroscience

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience from High Point University and am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Psychology at Columbia University. My coursework and research experience have provided me with a strong understanding of topics including neuroanatomy, behavioral neuroscience, biopsychology, cognition, learning and memory, and research methods. I have tutored college students in Biopsychology and Introductory Psychology, helping them understand complex neurological concepts and improve their academic performance. My goal is to make neuroscience engaging and accessible by breaking down challenging topics into clear, understandable concepts that students can apply with confidence.
Pharmacology

Pharmacology

I have a strong academic foundation in pharmacology through advanced coursework in psychopharmacology, where I earned an A and developed a deep understanding of how drugs influence behavior, cognition, and neural signaling. As a neuroscience graduate student at Columbia University, I regularly engage with neurobiological mechanisms underlying drug action, including neurotransmitter systems, receptor pharmacology, and neural circuit modulation. I also have experience tutoring and TA support, which has strengthened my ability to explain complex pharmacological concepts in a clear and approachable way. My focus is on helping students connect core pharmacological principles to real-world clinical and behavioral applications.
