I am currently a Mechanical Engineering student at the United States Military Academy at West Point. Prior to attending West Point, I graduated as the valedictorian of my high school class, got a 36 on the ACT, received a 5 on AP Chemistry, PA Calculus BC, AP Physics 1, and 4s on multiple other subjects. I was also accepted into Princeton, Johns Hopkins, The United States Air force academy, all the University of California schools, Georgia tech, and a few others before ultimately settling on West Point.
My tutoring experience is primarily one on one. I worked closely with a student to help with her academic preparation and study habits. She was accepted into her top school, the United States Coast Guard Academy. I would regularly tutor individuals for AP Chemistry, AP Physics 1 where out of 16 people I tutored, 14 received a 5 on the AP tests and 2 received 4s.
I focus on teaching students to understand that subjects are split into two categories; understanding and memorization. A big part on how I teach is to help students understand how concepts flow. The memorization aspects is only the labeling of those concepts and the results of those concepts. This allows for much greater understanding and retention. I focus on gaps in a students foundation and help students identify their own gaps in knowledge. I can also relate to students in the college application process and can help provide assistance and explain my way of approaching college applications.
