Hi! My name is Anabel and I grew up in New York City, where I attended a small, rigorous IB school. That foundation gave me an early appreciation for high academic standards and genuine intellectual curiosity, and it is a big part of why I love working with students in this city.

I graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Infectious Diseases, earning Dean's List honors and a 3.7 GPA. My biology training at Cornell was unusually broad. Alongside core science coursework in genetics, physiology, microbiology, and chemistry, I took a significant number of courses examining how biology intersects with medicine, society, and ethics. That combination means I don't just know the material. I understand how to contextualize it, explain the "why" behind concepts, and connect science to the real world in a way that goes well beyond memorizing a textbook.

I have research experience at two institutions. At Cornell's B.A.B.Y. Lab I contributed to pediatric development research, and at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai I worked in the endocrinology department, where I was co-author on a published internal study. These experiences gave me a genuine understanding of how biological science works at a high level, and they inform the way I teach: I want students to understand concepts deeply, not just well enough to pass a test.

I am currently applying to physician assistant programs, and my years of clinical experience working directly with patients across all age groups have made me an exceptionally clear and patient communicator. Explaining complex medical and scientific information to people with no science background is something I do every day. I am excited to bring that same approach to students, meeting each one where they are and building real understanding rather than shortcuts.
