Experienced Math Tutor - Grade 6 to College Linear Algebra

Hello, I'm Victoria! I'm a college student in the honors program at Fordham University majoring in mathematics. I have been volunteer tutoring math since my freshman year of high school and I coordinated the free after school tutoring program at my high school my senior year. Getting to help students reach an understanding of a topic and gain confidence in their math skills is extremely satisfying for me and why I love tutoring. I have a great passion for teaching math and am very patient with students. I understand how math can be confusing and challenging, and I want to help you feel confident in tackling any problem! When I tutor, I focus on asking students questions and dialoguing back and forth to allow them to think through difficult problems out loud with some helpful guidance. I encourage them to ask me a million questions so they can walk away from a session with a genuinely strong understanding! When explaining, I aim to break down each concept into its simplest most core meaning, this way students won't have to rely on rote memorization and will have a strong foundation to build upon when they learn new topics.

I tutor middle school math, algebra 1 and 2, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and linear algebra. I had success on my standardized tests (1600 SAT, 36 ACT) and offer SAT and ACT tutoring, particularly in math. While preparing for these exams can feel stressful and high-stakes, I always want the process to feel calm and even enjoyable. The challenge of solving problems with a time limit can be fun if you frame it in a positive way. I help students gain strong problem solving skills so they are ready to answer any question that may come their way, in addition to helping students prepare for content-specific questions.
