With over two decades of experience in the New York City Department of Education and private sectors, I have built a career dedicated to elementary education and specialized student support. I hold a Master of Science from Capella University and a Master’s degree in Elementary and Special Education from Touro College. My professional foundation is reinforced by New York State Professional Certifications in both Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) and Students with Disabilities. These credentials reflect a deep academic and practical understanding of how to support diverse learners during their most formative
years.
My classroom experience spans two decades, including significant time spent as a Special Education teacher for grades 2 through 5 in self-contained settings. I am proficient in employing a wide range of instructional methodologies, such as Project-Based Learning (PBL) and student-centered inquiry, to ensure concepts are accessible and engaging. Furthermore, I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach, a specialized method for teaching reading to students diagnosed with dyslexia. This diverse toolkit allows me to adapt my tutoring style to meet the specific phonological, mathematical, or organizational needs of each child.
Throughout my tenure, I have worked with students in various capacities, from one-on-one individualized mathematics instruction to managing larger classroom environments. I have extensive experience using data-driven tools like ARIS/ACUITY and SESIS to track student progress and develop personalized education plans that address unique learning gaps. Beyond the traditional school day, I have also served as a tutor and test-prep instructor for "Reaching For The Stars," where I focused on helping elementary students improve their performance in high-stakes testing environments. My goal is always to foster a supportive, assertive, and productive relationship with my students to help them achieve their full academic potential.
