Hello! My name is Tyler R, and I was born and raised in New York City. I graduated from Cornell University in 3.5 years with a GPA of 4.081 and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. I majored in Biology and Society, an interdisciplinary program that combines rigorous STEM coursework with real-world and humanities-based applications. This background has shaped how I think about learning—not just as memorization, but as understanding concepts in a broader context. I am an incoming medical student, and in my free time, I’m excited to continue sharing my passion for math and science with students at all levels.
During my undergraduate career, I worked extensively in teaching and mentorship roles. As a teaching assistant for both biology and physics courses (known to be challenging “weed-out” classes at my university) I worked closely with students in both group and one-on-one settings. I developed a strong track record of helping students build confidence and improve their performance by breaking down complex topics into manageable steps. In addition, I have experience tutoring students of various ages through chess, which has strengthened my ability to adapt my teaching style to different learning needs and skill levels. My tutoring approach is patient, collaborative, and tailored to each student. I aim to help students succeed academically by helping them develop lasting problem-solving skills and confidence in their unique abilities.
