Hi! I'm a tutor with a little over half a year of experience. I graduated from Hunter College's undergraduate English program as a Thomas Hunter's Honors student and am currently completing my master's degree from Hunter College's graduate English program. Hi! I'm a tutor with a little over half a year of experience. I graduated from Hunter College's undergraduate English program as a Thomas Hunter's Honors student and am currently completing my master's degree from Hunter College's graduate English program. I expect to graduate by the end of this spring semester and look forward to working in the field of education. I have done one-on-one tutoring with two high school-aged students. I worked with them on their English and history assignments. In my tutoring, I engage students in their interests. I find that students do not work well when they lack passion for the subject, so I try my best to find even a single detail that a student can connect to in an assignment. From there, I discuss with the student, allowing them to verbalize ideas before putting them on a page. I encourage and aid them in connecting the thoughts they share so that they form a cohesive argument or statement. While I provide feedback and encouragement, I try to be as hands-off as possible during the writing process, only stepping in if I see a glaring issue in a student's work. If a student has questions, I answer to the best of my abilities. I make use of simple examples to instill students with the tools needed for their writing while refraining from providing them with a direct answer. This method allows students to learn necessary techniques, such as revision tools, argument structures, and more, that they then apply to their writing on their own. Doing so enables students to grow and become more independent and confident over time.
