Jack is a film and creative writing educator with a background in both professional story development and educational consulting. He graduated from Hamilton College, where he studied World Politics with a specialization in International Development. Through Hamilton’s open curriculum, he also completed coursework in literature, sociology, philosophy, economics, religion, gender studies, physics, and film. This interdisciplinary background shapes his teaching philosophy: he helps students connect ideas across disciplines, develop intellectual curiosity, and produce writing and creative work that reflects a distinctive point of view.

Before transitioning into educational consulting, Jack worked in the film industry as a Story Analyst and Creative Development Associate. In these roles, he evaluated screenplays, television pilots, novels, and stage plays; collaborated with writers and producers on narrative development; and workshoped original film and television projects. This professional experience gives him a strong foundation in narrative structure, character development, thematic analysis, and storytelling craft—skills that translate directly into his work with students studying film, creative writing, and college admissions essays.

Since 2020, Jack has worked as a full-time Educational Consultant, helping hundreds of students strengthen their writing, refine their ideas, and develop compelling personal narratives. His students have earned admission to universities including MIT, Johns Hopkins, NYU, Duke, Carnegie Mellon, Columbia, Cornell, Wellesley, the University of Michigan, Vanderbilt, Emory, UNC Chapel Hill, and University College London.

Jack specializes in tutoring film analysis, screenwriting, creative writing, and college application essays. He has worked with middle school, high school, and college students, primarily in one-on-one mentorship settings focused on writing development, storytelling, and college application preparation.

I'm an independent college essay consultant based in New York with 5+ years of experience helping high-achieving students get into the schools their transcripts alone couldn't guarantee. My students have been admitted to MIT, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, Carnegie Mellon, Wellesley, Johns Hopkins, Vanderbilt, Michigan, Georgetown, and Northwestern, among others. I don't run a factory. I work with a small number of students each year, which means your child gets real attention, honest feedback, and a consultant who actually reads every word. Before moving into college consulting, I worked in the film and television industry evaluating creative material such as screenplays, television pilots, and novels and collaborating with writers and producers on narrative development for original projects. That experience taught me something most essay coaches never learn: how a reader decides, in the first few lines, whether a story is worth their attention. I bring that editorial instinct to every essay I work on, and I consider it a genuine privilege to help students craft stories that capture their particular way of seeing the world. For a college applicant, that's not a soft skill. It's the whole game.
