Hi, I’m Kijanna! I graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor’s in Film Production and completed two years of graduate coursework in Cybercrime and Prevention at Iona University. I have over 10 years of experience as an educator serving youth ages 2–18. I am currently an educator with the NYC Department of Education at a performing arts middle school, where I support students across core content areas including English, Math, Social Studies, and Science. In addition to my classroom work, I have over 10 years of experience as a Double Dutch coach working with students ages 5–18, where I created and implemented my own training curriculum focused on teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness. I also taught an afterschool film class for students ages 11–13, designing my own teacher-led lesson plans and curriculum to introduce students to filmmaking and creative storytelling.
Throughout my career, I have taught in a variety of learning environments including classroom settings, small groups, one-on-one instruction, and extracurricular programs. I have experience supporting both general education and special education students while helping them strengthen academic skills and build confidence in their learning. Through my work as a Double Dutch coach, I have mentored youth while leading structured practices and curriculum that emphasize leadership, collaboration, and perseverance. Similarly, in the afterschool film program, I guided middle school students through the filmmaking process, encouraging creativity while teaching technical and storytelling skills. My goal is to help students develop the foundational knowledge, critical thinking, and confidence they need to succeed in their academic journeys.
