I am a graduate of The Brearley School, one of the most academically rigorous private schools in New York City, and an incoming freshman at the University of Chicago. I am also a student at the Manhattan School of Music Precollege program. My math credentials include a score of 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam, 790 on the SAT Math section, and I am currently enrolled in linear algebra at the college level.
I have been tutoring peers and younger students for the past three years in both one-on-one and small group settings. At Brearley, I regularly helped classmates in algebra, pre-calculus, and calculus, and I mentored middle school students in foundational math concepts. I have also helped fellow students prepare for the SAT and ACT math sections, working with them on pacing strategies, problem identification, and targeted practice.
My teaching approach is concept-driven and adaptive. I assess where a student is struggling, break down the underlying concept into manageable steps, and use a mix of worked examples, practice problems, and real-time problem solving to build both understanding and confidence. I adjust my methods depending on the student — a seventh grader building algebra foundations needs a different approach than a junior preparing for AP Calculus or standardized testing.
I have experience working with students ranging from ages 11 to 18 across a wide range of math levels including pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, AP Calculus AB and BC, SAT math, ACT math, and introductory linear algebra. My background at a highly competitive school means I understand the academic pressures my students face and can provide both subject expertise and practical strategies for managing a demanding workload.
