Recently graduated magna cum laude from Princeton with a B.S. in Operations Research and Financial Engineering. My foundation for standardized test preparation comes from scoring in the 99.9th percentile on both the SAT and ACT. Over the past five years, I have tutored professionally, working with more than 100 students across SAT/ACT and academic subjects including mathematics through multivariable calculus, statistics, and AP-level sciences.
My approach begins with diagnostic assessment to identify specific gaps in understanding or test-taking strategy, then develops customized problem sets to address those weaknesses systematically. For standardized tests, I emphasize pattern recognition and time management alongside content mastery, teaching students to categorize question types and allocate their time based on question difficulty. I leverage AI tools to identify patterns in student errors and analyze potential weaknesses in content understanding. For academic subjects, I prioritize conceptual understanding over memorization, guiding students through problems that require them to apply principles in unfamiliar contexts.
I worked for CollegeBound Review for 2.5 years during undergraduate studies, conducting both one-on-one sessions and small group classes of 3-5 students. Outside that company, I have worked exclusively in one-on-one settings via in-person or video sessions. My students have ranged from middle school through college level, though most fall in the high school demographic preparing for college admissions. Session lengths typically run 60-90 minutes, with frequency determined by student needs and timeline constraints. I maintain detailed notes documenting progress and areas requiring additional practice. Beyond the mechanics of test prep and academic support, I find real satisfaction in the coaching aspect of tutoring. Watching a student move from confusion to genuine understanding reminds me why I started doing this work.
