Hi! I am a current Columbia Master's Student with over 4 years of middle school teaching experience in the South Bronx. There, I taught History, English, and Math, winning an award for instructional excellence in 2024. Before teaching, I studied History at Boston College and worked with high schoolers doing Model United Nations. I have tutored on Wyzant and other services, as well as in person after school.
History and other humanities courses can feel like a bunch of names, events, and numbers with random themes woven throughout. Together, we will piece everything together to reveal a story that allows the student to understand, analyze, and question what is relevant and why. Here, I blend writing, reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and test-taking strategies to make students more confident and prepared. I've worked extensively with Special Education students and know how to differentiate instruction to meet students where they are. I believe every student can succeed with the right support and engagement! I use a mix of storytelling, humor, and unwavering rigor to make learning fun, challenging, and rewarding.
I'm excited to work together on whatever you need!
