Experienced flute tutor w/ a priority for passion & individuality

Dear friends,

Hello! My name is Gabriella and I have been playing the flute since I was 8 years old. With 17 years of playing experience (including receiving a perfect score in NYSSMA evaluations and getting a solo at Carnegie Hall at the age of 13) and 4 years of one-on-one tutoring experience under my belt, I have determined that the most crucial part of growing in music is to enjoy yourself.

I look for students to tutor who are between the ages of 7 and 14; This age range is such a crucial time to solidify to students that playing an instrument is an awesome thing, and they can do anything that their heart desires with such a skill. Why not learn new notes and rhythms with their favorite songs, on top of learning classics by Mozart and Baroque?

I take sight-reading, scales, testing (in school and out), concerts, and recitals very seriously. I care about understanding sheet music, not just reading it. I care about tone, crescendos and decrescendos, trills, and taking care of your instrument.

Reaching the full potential of all of these skills and more cannot occur without love for the instrument. Passion is the number one motivator. Take it from the teacher - I don’t want to practice unless I’m mentally stimulated by the music, either! That's why my favorite song to warm up with is Hedwig's Theme (Harry Potter). :)

My approach to teaching is to focus on the love of the game through unique lesson plans that are crafted specifically to each student’s goals and interests. Learning an instrument for a school credit or grade is important, but my wish is to turn that skill into something long-lasting, something that students take personal pride in.

I love the flute. I love music of all genres. It is my honor to pass that love on to the next generation of musicians.
