I am a physics and mathematics educator with almost two decades of teaching experience, beginning during graduate school in 2005. I hold a MS in Physics and a BA in Creative Writing and have taught students ranging from middle school through college level in both classroom and one-on-one settings. My background includes teaching all levels of mathematics (up to and including calculus), introductory college physics and math, and AP Physics, as well as working with students preparing for standardized exams such as the SAT/SHSAT/ACT.
Over the years, I’ve taught in formal classroom environments as well as through individualized tutoring, which has strongly shaped my teaching approach. I focus on helping students understand the underlying concepts behind the material rather than relying on memorization or shortcuts. This approach is especially effective for students who feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck, and for those who understand parts of the material but struggle to apply it independently. I’ve worked with a wide range of learners, including students who need steady academic support as well as those aiming to strengthen performance in demanding courses.
In tutoring sessions, I emphasize clear explanations, thoughtful problem-solving, and building confidence over time. I adapt my instruction to each student’s background, pace, and goals, whether they are seeking ongoing course support or targeted help with specific topics. My goal is to help students feel calmer, more capable, and better equipped to tackle unfamiliar problems on their own, and hopefully to enjoy the process!
