Hi, I'm an MFA candidate in Writing at the Milton Avery Graduate School of Art. I earned a BA in Film & Electronic Arts with a minor in English Literature from Bard College in 2017. I have about ten years of classroom and tutoring experience, and am available to tutor students in anything related to the English Language. I have supported students preparing for the SAT Reading/Writing sections, as well as for the AP Literature and AP Language exams (and coursework). I love working through essay composition, reading, writing, grammar, and general language skills. I will listen for a student's particular strengths/weaknesses and establish a tutoring plan that suits their needs and goals.
I have experience teaching all ages-- from toddlers to undergraduates to adults. I have classroom experience teaching Poetry, English Literature, Digital/Analogue Animation, and Dance Composition. My approach to pedagogy is structured, rigorous, and warm. I hold students up to high standards, and at the same time, remain sensitive to the supremely sensitive nature of the pedagogical encounter. I draw on my Somatic Experiencing training in order to remain adaptable and sensitive to a student's non-verbal cues, and ever-changing needs.
