About Kendall

Bio

I recently graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a double major in Financial Mathematics & Statistics and Economics. While my degree is in higher-level mathematics, I’ve always enjoyed working with students at all levels and helping them build strong fundamentals early on. I’m comfortable tutoring students from elementary school through high school (ages 5–18), and I focus on making math feel less intimidating and more intuitive.

My teaching experience is primarily one-on-one or in small groups. My experience tutoring has involved volunteering as a tutor at local schools for service hours and participating in a mentor program at my university in which I helped students with any tutoring/career needs that they sought.

I take a patient, structured approach that starts with making sure students understand the underlying ideas behind a concept first before jumping into examples. I like to walk through an example or two together and then connect what we’re learning to real-life situations so the material feels relevant and easier to remember. This approach has been especially helpful for younger students or those who feel anxious about math, as it helps build both confidence and problem-solving skills.

I have supported students in a variety of settings, including informal tutoring, homework help, and exam preparation. Over time, I’ve learned how to adapt my explanations based on age, learning style, and individual goals. Whether a student needs help staying on track with classwork, preparing for a test, or strengthening core math skills, my goal is always to create a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.
