I am an EMT with over six years of field experience and a strong background in teaching and evaluation. During college, I served as Director of Brown University EMS, where I was responsible for leading training programs for EMT students, certified EMTs, and new supervisors in both classroom and hands-on skills settings. In that role, I taught lessons and led review sessions for students preparing for the NREMT exam. I've also served as a skills evaluator in both New York State and Rhode Island, which has given me insight into how students are assessed and where they commonly struggle during testing.
My tutoring approach focuses on helping students understand the “why” behind EMT concepts rather than relying on memorization alone. EMT coursework moves quickly and can feel overwhelming, so I work with students to build a clear assessment framework and focus on a small number of core concepts that the rest of the course material builds on. I emphasize verbalization, sequencing, and decision-making so students feel confident during both written exams and psychomotor skills testing. I tailor my approach to each student’s learning style and goals, whether they are new to EMS, preparing for an upcoming exam, or rebuilding confidence after a failed attempt.
I have worked with high school students, college students, and adult learners in one-on-one, small-group, and classroom environments. My goal as a tutor is to create a supportive, low-pressure learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and improving through guided practice. I enjoy helping students gain confidence in their abilities and succeed in EMT training and certification.
