UCLA Graduate - Writing & Math Tutoring

I recently earned my BA at UCLA with a major in Communications and Writing. At UCLA, I worked with the Undergraduate Writing Center to help students with essays and any writing-related tasks they have during my senior year. Sessions ranged in various subjects, and I helped students with whatever assignment they needed that specific day – no preparatory materials necessary. Thus, I am extremely flexible, and willing to provide any assistance necessary in a given session.

Aside from my university experience, I have been tutoring students for 7 years, across all subjects, with ages ranging from 6-20 years old. These sessions are one-on-one, where I typically assist students with homework, and create tasks based on where I see they need growth. As sessions progress, I gain a stronger sense of specific areas that students struggle with, and come prepared with materials and methods to encourage academic growth.

I love to grow relationships with students so that they look forward to coming to our sessions and learning. My students have had varying comprehension levels -- from dyslexia, ADHD, to no general learning disabilities, I always adjust my tutoring style to meet students where they are, and provide the best learning outcome that they go on to apply without my help.

In my professional life, I have honed excellent written and verbal communication skills. I have worked with several publications, from student media, to lifestyle publications, to luxury brands, to nonprofit arts organizations. I am confident that I can help students hone their writing skills, but I am also happy to work in other subjects, such as mathematics, history, and science.
