Hi there! My name is Katrina, and I’m a music and English double major at Skidmore College. I’ve been playing piano since I was seven and have completed four advanced music theory courses, along with serving as a college-level music theory tutor for my peers. I also have strong academic experience in math and writing, and I love helping younger students build a solid foundation in these subjects.
When tutoring, I focus on patience, encouragement, and creative learning. For music theory, I use interactive methods like rhythm games, ear training, and connecting theory to songs students already love — helping them understand why music sounds the way it does. For math and writing, I emphasize understanding over memorization, using examples and exercises that make concepts relatable and fun.
I’ve worked with students ranging from elementary to college level, both one-on-one and in small groups. Whether a student is just starting out on their musical journey or needs extra support in school subjects, my goal is to make learning exciting and confidence-building.
