As a former Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for Introduction to Genetics, I spent a year helping students strengthen their problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Our teaching team led weekly problem-solving sessions, where I guided students one-on-one in developing strategies for approaching homework questions and understanding the reasoning behind each step. Before exams, we hosted comprehensive review sessions to reinforce key genetics concepts and help students connect ideas across different topics.
My tutoring approach centers on asking guiding questions that encourage students to think independently and make meaningful connections between concepts. I often use visual aids and diagrams to make complex topics more intuitive and easier to grasp. Above all, I aim to create a supportive, encouraging learning environment, providing constructive feedback and positive reinforcement to help students build confidence and enjoy learning.
