I am a tutor specializing in SAT Reading and Writing preparation and General English, with a B.A. in History from Bowdoin College and a certificate in teaching English as a second language. Over my years of tutoring, I have taught students of many different ages and backgrounds, and I adapt my lessons to meet the needs, goals, and interests of every learner I work with.

My teaching experience began in high school, when I delivered lessons focused on grammar, vocabulary, and reading. I taught students in public libraries in New York City and at a middle school in New England, working with learners ranging from elementary school students to senior citizens, including many non-native English speakers. These early experiences allowed me to work with students across a wide range of levels and backgrounds and sparked my long-term commitment to teaching.

Throughout college, I continued to tutor my peers in writing, helping them improve clarity, structure, and argumentation in their essays. After graduation, I pursued teaching further, obtaining a TEFL certificate and teaching English at a linguistic college in Central Asia. There, I taught hundreds of students within a formal college environment, working with learners who came from yet another range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. This experience broadened my familiarity with even more student types and strengthened my ability to adjust instruction for different language foundations, academic needs, and personalities.

I work with both native English speakers—supporting SAT preparation, academic writing, and coursework—and non-native speakers who want to improve their speaking, listening, writing, and reading abilities. I create individualized lesson plans informed by my experience and knowledge of effective teaching methodologies. Whether you are preparing for the SAT, developing stronger writing skills, or building English fluency, I look forward to helping you achieve your goals.
