I graduated with a BS in Mathematics & Computer Science and an MA in Computer Science from Duke University in May 2025, and I’ve been tutoring students for almost nine years, starting in high school when I taught middle-school contest math. Hi, I’m Vincent. I graduated with a BS in Mathematics & Computer Science and an MA in Computer Science from Duke University in May 2025, and I’ve been tutoring students for almost nine years, starting in high school when I taught middle-school contest math. Since then I’ve worked with middle-schoolers, high-schoolers, and college students, teaching everything from algebra and precalculus to data structures and test prep. I’m proud that several of my younger math students have gone on to excel in competitive math contests. Personally, I’ve earned a 780 GMAT, 177 LSAT, and national recognition in rigorous competitions - specifically, I placed in the top 500 at the Putnam Math Contest and received an honorable mention at ICPC’s North America Championship.
I previously served as the head teaching assistant for Duke’s Algorithms course, where I taught multiple weekly discussion sections of 10-25 students and held regular office hours for hundreds of students. That experience sharpened my ability to explain complex material clearly and to adapt lessons on the fly to different learning styles. I love that moment when a concept suddenly “clicks” for a student. My approach is patient and flexible: I start by listening, then adjust the explanation to suit the student, whether that’s using a real-world analogy, drawing a diagram, or slowing down to work step-by-step. I try to keep a balance between clear guidance and giving students the space to think out loud and discover their own ‘aha’ moments, so they develop both understanding and confidence.
Today I offer tutoring in math (pre-algebra through advanced calculus and probability), computer-science/programming (Python, algorithms), and standardized-test prep (GMAT, LSAT, SAT, ACT). I’m based in New York City and available for in-person or online lessons. Students can count on an encouraging and goal-oriented tutor who’s committed to meeting each student where they are and helping them succeed.
