Hi, I’m Afm! I graduated from Stuyvesant High School and went on to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Cornell University. During my time in school, I realized that the best learning happens when a student feels truly supported and comfortable. I try to bring this understanding to my tutoring approach by creating a space where students feel safe slowing down and asking questions. My goal is to make every session a collaborative deep dive where we tackle complex topics together, using interactive questioning rather than just one-way explanations. I find that this method helps students uncover the "small" questions that lead to those big lightbulb moments.
I have extensive experience working with high school and college-aged students, including serving as a course assistant for Calculus I and II at Cornell. In that role, I worked directly with fellow students to deconstruct difficult problems and helped professors design problem sets to clarify common points of confusion. Since graduating, I have continued tutoring part-time, helping students navigate everything from college-level STEM classes to achieving perfect 800s on the SAT Math section. Whether we are studying throughout the year for a big AP exam or building foundational skills for a big standardized test, I use my own experiences with rigorous testing to empathize with my students' stress and help them build genuine self-belief.
I want to be as helpful as possible to the students I work with, so I always welcome any resources or specific suggestions that parents or students can provide. I believe that confidence is earned through a sturdy foundation of methodology, and I am dedicated to helping my students master their subjects with composure. I am easy to reach and look forward to answering any questions you might have or helping you schedule your first lesson!
