Hey! My name is Lila Gupta (she/they), and I'm a student at NYU for Mathematics and a previous student at Stony Brook University. I have been an accelerated mathematics student my entire life, taking advanced graduate-level mathematics courses while still in high school.
For the entirety of high school, I was a tutor at my hometown's local Mathnasium, where I helped students in subjects ranging from learning how to count all the way to Linear Algebra and Calculus III. In my 4 years tutoring, I worked in an open classroom environment where I often had to tutor many students simultaneously, but I always made sure everyone got all of the help they needed. I also have experience teaching with various online platforms such as Zoom, one-on-one, and in a larger classroom environment. A story that sticks with me is a student of mine's mother coming up to me and thanking me personally for helping her son pass his Algebra II exam; he went from getting a D+ on his last test to an A-.
My teaching style is one that prioritizes learning and understanding the material students have struggle with, and it is one that adapts and listens to the individual struggles of my students. I have tutored many students with learning disabilities and helped them learn material when they were starting to fall behind. Overall, I always strive to be patient and listen to what my students need to deliver the best tutoring session I possibly can for them. I hope to enter my future years at college at beyond continuing to tutor and help as many students as possible!
