I am a trilingual French instructor and international professional fluent in English, French, and Mandarin Chinese, with a career spanning art, culture, luxury service, and cross-cultural communication in Paris, New York, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. I studied French language and literature at the Sorbonne and spent many years living and working in France, where French became an important part of both my professional and daily life.
I currently teach adult French at Alliance Française in New York. My teaching ranges from structured language courses for students building a strong foundation in French to advanced thematic conversation classes exploring current affairs, society, culture, travel, sports, and the arts.
I also design specialized French-through-art courses drawing on my professional background in the international art world. These lessons can use fine art, art history, museums and galleries, and the art market as a way to develop vocabulary, conversation, listening comprehension, and cultural fluency.
I particularly enjoy working with motivated adult learners and professionals. Some of my students are beginning French from the ground up; others already communicate comfortably and want more sophisticated conversation, stronger cultural fluency, or French connected to their professional and intellectual interests.
Because I learned French to an academic and professional level myself, I understand the challenges adult learners face and can explain grammar and language structure clearly in English when helpful. My lessons are structured and rigorous, but also conversational and tailored to the individual.
If you are looking for serious French instruction—whether for everyday life, travel, professional communication, cultural interests, or simply the goal of becoming genuinely comfortable in French—I would be happy to work with you.
I work primarily with adult learners and professionals rather than school homework or standardized-test preparation.
