Highly experienced educator with many years of Wall Street experience. I have taught math and mathematical finance at NYU and Columbia and have tutored for years, going back to my high school days.
Did my undergraduate degree in mathematics from Yale University and a Masters degree from the Courant Institute at New York University.
In tutoring I emphasize the importance of "knowing what is going on" rather than memorizing equations. My aim is for my students to be able to understand where the equations come from and how to derive them - in other words, have mastery over the material. For example, understanding why the Pythagorean theorem works or how the quadratic equation comes from completing the square or why the derivative of sin x is cos x - not just knowing the results.
I'm centrally located in Manhattan and happy to meet in person for tutoring of students in grades 6 to 12 in all math subjects as well as test prep. I can also tutor for the FRM exam, which I helped write a few years back, and other mathematical topics to college and graduate students.
