I’m a patient, energetic Mandarin teacher who loves helping learners build real-world confidence. I completed my undergraduate studies at Jilin Normal University and earned my master’s degree from NJIT. I now teach full-time as a Mandarin teacher at BASIS Independent Brooklyn, where I work with diverse learners for students.
My tutoring blends clear structure with lively, communicative practice. For beginners, I focus on pinyin and tones, high-frequency words, and everyday speaking/listening so you can use Mandarin from day one. For continuing students, I build reading and writing with character recognition strategies, radicals, and sentence patterns. I’m experienced with HSK (1–3+), school coursework support, AP Chinese prep, heritage learners, and practical “survival” or business Mandarin.
Every student starts with a quick diagnostic so I can create a custom plan with weekly goals, and feedback after each lesson. I use shared docs, audio snippets, and mini-quizzes to track progress, and I keep lessons engaging with culture notes, short videos, and role-plays.
I’m available in person in NYC (Brooklyn/Manhattan/Queens) and online. Lessons can be 60 or 90 minutes. If you’re looking for clear explanations, steady progress, and a friendly coach who celebrates your wins, I’d love to help—new students welcome for a trial session!
