Hello! My name is Tim. I recently graduated from Yale University (Yale Divinity School) with a Master of Divinity degree, and I earned my B.A. from St. Olaf College, where I majored in Sociology/Anthropology (minor in Latin American Studies) and graduated summa cum laude. My academic background is wide-ranging, spanning the humanities (writing, reading, debate, literature, theological study) and social sciences (sociology, anthropology, political science, quantitative/qualitative research methods). Additionally, I pursued significant coursework in Spanish throughout high school and college, and I spent a year in Ecuador conducting research through a Fulbright grant.

Thank you for considering me as a potential tutor! I thoroughly enjoy this work. It feels meaningful to tailor lesson plans to each student's individual learning style, and it's always exciting to see a student experience those "lightbulb moments" when a concept finally clicks!

Colleagues and friends describe me as warm, positive, energetic, and affirming. It would be a joy to work with you and support you in achieving your learning goals. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Anthropology

Anthropology

I graduated with my B.A. from St. Olaf College, where I majored in Sociology and Anthropology (with a minor in Latin American Studies). Following graduation, I received a Fulbright grant to carry out medical anthropology research in Ecuador. My education has included specific training in anthropological theory, anthropological research methods, social anthropology, medical anthropology, and cultural studies. It would be a joy to support you in your study of Anthropology!
Bible Studies

Bible Studies

I recently graduated with a Master of Divinity (M.Div) degree from Yale University (Yale Divinity School). This three-year degree program included intensive study in Bible interpretation (both Hebrew Bible and New Testament), history (of scripture and of the church), theology, and ethics. I graduated from the program with honors, and it would be a joy to support students in their theology, Bible, history, and ethics studies.
Sociology

Sociology

I graduated with my B.A. from St. Olaf College, where I majored in Sociology and Anthropology (with a minor in Latin American Studies). In addition to introductory sociology material, my undergraduate degree included specific training in sociological theory, sociological research methods, sociology of religion, urban sociology, cultural sociology, medical sociology, and applied sociology. The major also included a semester-long sociological research project, which involved survey writing, data analysis, and the use of SPSS software. Furthermore, my Fulbright research in Ecuador was grounded in the theoretical work of several prominent sociological theorists. Carrying out this research greatly enriched my understanding of these theorists on their own terms and also helped me think through how they concretely relate to social life. Finally, during my Master of Divinity degree at Yale University (Yale Divinity School), much of my coursework focused on the intersection of religion and social theory, including courses such as "Christianity and the New Spirit of Capitalism" (premised on the work of Max Weber), "Christianity and Social Power," and "AI Ethics and Theology." It would be a joy to support you in your study of Sociology!
