Hello! My name is David and I'm a composer, pianist, and teacher with over a decade of experience. I hold a degree in Piano Performance from the University of Vermont, and I’ve performed throughout the Northeast, from Boston to D.C., as both a soloist and collaborator. I’ve studied under Paul Orgel and Sadie Brightman, and have accompanied choirs at Saint Michael’s College and beyond.
My teaching emphasizes technique and posture as well as harmony, form, and musical aesthetics. My practice seeks to combine the philosophy of music with the traditional pedagogy of classical technique. The foundational element of my teaching is empathy and my approach caters to the individual needs, abilities, and interests of my students.
For years, I lived close to the land in rural Vermont, homesteading while teaching from a small studio. That season of life taught me patience, independence, and the fulfillment that comes from building a self-sufficient life. My recent move to New York City, following my partner’s medical residency, has brought new energy to my work. I’m excited to connect with students here who are curious, creative, and ready to grow.
