Hey Hey Hey! My name is Dillon & I am a current surgical research fellow and medical student at Columbia University. I completed my undergraduate and master’s in Electrical Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Electrical Science and Engineering with a 4.9 undergraduate GPA and 5.0 graduate GPA. I have a strong background in math and science, and specialized my degree in medical device design, so if you are interested in learning more about math, science, engineering, medicine, or all of the above, I am your guy!

In my free time, I have worked on an ambulance (during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic) and volunteered at Camp Kesem, a non-profit for children whose parents have cancer. I played lacrosse at MIT and have coached youth lacrosse since high school, so between those activities I have a fair amount of experience working with and teaching children. I was a tutor for the HKN Honor Society at MIT, where I tutored other MIT students in difficult subjects including programming, electrical circuits, multivariable calculus, differential equations, neuroscience, psychology, quantitative physiology (ie anatomy), organic and inorganic chemistry, biology, and physics, to name a few subjects. I also worked as a research and teaching assistant while acquiring my master's degree. That is to say, I have a fair bit of experience tutoring and finding success with some of the smartest people in the world at one of the hardest schools in the world.

I believe in a hands-on tutoring approach, balanced with open ended questions and opportunities for true understanding that allow the student to gain mastery of the material at the most basic level and building from there. Teaching is a gift, and one I love to share with students of all ages, from basic skills at an early, elementary age to those taking college courses while in high school.

Computer Science

Computer Science

I have extensive programming experience from MIT computer science courses, including fundamentals of programming and computational structures. I wrote a master's thesis that predominantly utilized programming in MatLab. I worked for Micron technologies as a software engineer, and I am now a research fellow at Columbia using R on a daily basis.
Neuroscience

Neuroscience

I have always had an interest in neuroscience - I originally thought I would be a neurosurgeon when entering medical school. I have had extensive exposure to the subject through pre-clinical and clinical rotations (all medical schools have a dedicated neurology rotation) and through my current research, which focuses on the intersection of neuroscience and hearing loss, for which I have multiple papers and scientific abstracts under review.
