Hi! I’m Tara, a Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude graduate of Columbia University, where I majored in Art History and minored in Economics. I’ve been tutoring for over five years, and I specialize in SAT prep, writing, and essay support.
Across my tutoring career, I’ve helped students improve SAT scores by over 100 points, raise French grades by a full letter, and transform their confidence and clarity in writing. My work is rooted in learning strategies first—breaking down content into approachable frameworks—followed by targeted practice to reinforce and refine those skills through repetition and real-world application.
I’ve tutored both independently and through Barnard College’s peer academic programs, and my experience spans everything from test prep to editing essays for Ivy League applications. I also served as an editor for the oldest collegiate journal in Canada, and my writing has been published in top-tier undergraduate journals and featured at the G7 Summit.
What I tutor:
• SAT (Reading, Writing & Language, Math)
• Essay Writing (academic, college admissions, analytical)
• Study Skills & Learning Strategies
My goal is to meet each student where they are, build a foundation of clear understanding, and then push toward mastery through guided practice. I’m passionate about helping students not only succeed, but understand how they’re succeeding.
