Hi, I'm Ergene! I graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts in English, and also minored in Asian American Studies, French, and Gender & Sexuality Studies. I was awarded the Edward H. Tumin Prize for my senior thesis, which is bestowed upon "a student in the Department of English who has demonstrated the best appreciation of the English language and its effective use in written composition." My great dream and ambition is to become a writer, and so I have long cherished writing (in all its forms) as an art and a skill that can be taught to others.

I began tutoring in high school, and found it so fulfilling that I've been tutoring in some capacity for nearly a decade now. I started by working with kindergarteners and elementary school kids, teaching them basic math and English. Over the course of my career as a tutor, I've worked with high school students, young adults, and older adults. At Princeton I taught English to non-native speakers, and also developed a serious interest in working with high school students to develop their college essays and applications. From October 2023 to December 2024, I was a college application & essay consultant with Next Admit, an EdTech company that utilizes Ivy League tutors to provide the most comprehensive and detailed college app experience for high school students. After moving to New York earlier this year, I worked as a college counselor for a charter school network, supervising 40+ high school students at a time.

I care deeply about mentoring kids and cultivating a student's personality and natural talents. I have a very open-minded and friendly approach to teaching and tutoring, and my extensive decade-long experience with kids and students of all ages has allowed me to discern the most suitable method in which to approach a lesson.
