I'm Kabir, a sophomore studying finance at Emory University right now. A CORE ACT superscore of 36 and several AP exam scores of 5 demonstrate my outstanding academic background and demonstrate both my subject-matter expertise and test-taking ability. My academic success has given me a thorough understanding of high school curricula and standardized tests, which I now like to impart to other children by tutoring them.
In the past, I was a tutor for Steel City Codes, a nonprofit dedicated to lowering the barrier to entry for younger kids pursuing computer science education. I eventually rose to the position of Head of Public Relations, where I assisted in growing the program's engagement and outreach in addition to continuing tutoring. I have mostly tutored middle and high school kids in Java and fundamental programming principles, frequently working one-on-one and in small groups. My ability to modify my explanations according to each student's preferred method of learning turned out to be my strongest suit. One student told me that I was the first to finally explain a complex Java topic in a way that made sense, and he valued the fact that I didn't simply reiterate the same explanation but instead came up with several different methods to break it down until it made sense. These kinds of experiences are what give teaching significance to me and motivate me to support and encourage students as they learn.
