Hi there! I’m Jorge, a passionate and patient tutor who loves helping students feel more confident about statistics and data analysis—especially those who never thought they could enjoy the subject.
I hold a BA in Communication from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City, an MA from The Ohio State University, and I’m currently completing my PhD in Communication at Ohio State. Over the past 8 years, I’ve taught college-level courses in both Mexico and the U.S., with a focus on research methods and statistics for students in the social sciences—especially Communication, Psychology, Sociology, and Political Science.
I specialize in making statistics approachable and relevant, particularly for students who don’t consider themselves “math people.” I was once a Communication major struggling to understand stats, so I bring empathy and creativity into every session. My goal is always to break complex ideas into simple, relatable pieces using examples that actually make sense to you. I love helping students overcome fear and frustration with stats—and even discover that it can be fun and useful.
I also have experience helping students navigate SPSS and STATA for homework, research papers, and thesis projects. Whether you’re tackling a tough assignment or learning the basics, I’m here to support you.
My work as an educator has been recognized with two awards: the Distinguished Teacher Award from Universidad Panamericana (2018) and the Albert Warren Award for Excellence in Teaching from The Ohio State University (2024).
I ask for a 24-hour cancellation notice. Feel free to reach out with any questions—I’d love to help you succeed!
