Hi I'm Robert! I recently a received a Master's in Computer Science from Fordham University in New York City where I achieved a 4.0 GPA. Before that, I completed a dual bachelors degree in mathematics and philosophy at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, one of the world's top universities. I excelled academically in high school and, with the help of my own tutors, I was able to achieve a perfect score on the SAT.
I am particularly passionate about tutoring math. It has always been one of my favorite subjects but I recognize that it can be very challenging at times and without one on one support, students can easily get discouraged. I have experience with math tutoring from my three years at Mathnasium, a group oriented after school math learning center. There, I taught students ranging from age 6 to 16 on topics ranging from basic arithmetic to pre-calculus. Getting to know students and helping them succeed was a wonderful experience and one that showed me how powerful personalized guidance can be in building confidence.
While math has always been my main subject, it has not been my singular academic focus. My master's degree in computer science has prepared me to teach key concepts in programming, data analysis, and computer architecture. Furthermore, my bachelors in philosophy has honed my skills in critical reasoning and writing essays. I believe it is critical for students to keep their academic aspirations broad and I would love the chance to teach multiple subjects.
I am most confident teaching grades 7-12 as well as early college students. For high school students in particular, I am able to help with the college admissions process. My success in standardized testing has prepared me to teach for the SAT and ACT, and I can also provide general guidance about applying to college, and what to expect when you get there.
I am available for both online tutoring and in person within New York City. Hourly rates vary. I look forward to meeting you!
