I first started tutoring while completing my BFA in film scoring at Berklee College of Music I 2012. Since I tested out of Berklee's core music curriculum in my freshman year, I was selected to take part in a pilot tutoring program designed to reduce the college's high dropout rate for first-year students struggling in music theory 101. These lessons were one-on-one, in person, meeting twice a week with each of my six students.
After receiving a graduate certificate from University of Southern California in film scoring in 2015, I went on to build a successful career as a film composer, keeping up tutoring work on the side, with a focus on the A.P. Music Theory Exam. My students were all high-school age, averaging 17, and we'd meet both in person and online.
I also volunteered at the Kara Tepe refugee camp in Lesvos, Greece in 2015, where I conducted group lessons in solfège and sight-singing for children ages 8-15.
I'm currently giving private lessons in ear training, harmony, and solfège from my home studio, where the oldest of my students is 56.
