Hi! I’m Aaron, a fluent Hebrew speaker and experienced Bar/Bat Mitzvah tutor with a background in Jewish education, language instruction, and youth mentorship. I hold a degree in Theatre with minors in Digital Arts and Religious Studies from Hamilton College, and I’ve spent over a decade teaching Jewish Studies, Hebrew, and B’nai Mitzvah prep in classroom, camp, and one-on-one settings.
I attended Jewish day school through 8th grade, tutored Bar/Bat Mitzvah students and volunteered at my local synagogue throughout high school, and later worked as a Hebrew tutor at my college’s Language Center. During college, I also taught at Temple Emanu-El of Utica’s Religious School for four years, leading classes in Hebrew, Jewish Studies, and B’nai Mitzvah preparation. I’ve since tutored more than a dozen students, helping them read and write Hebrew, chant Torah, lead prayers, and write meaningful d’var torahs.
My approach is warm, encouraging, and student-centered. I believe every B’nai Mitzvah journey should feel meaningful – not just mandatory – and I work hard to help each student connect to their portion and take pride in their learning. I’ve seen how positive reinforcement builds confidence and joy, and I love helping students discover their own voice – literally and figuratively – on this special path.
