Hi, I’m Kirby! I’m a professional classical soprano, writer, and educator with degrees in Voice Performance (B.M.) and Vocal Arts (M.M.) from Furman University and Bard College Conservatory. With over a decade of experience in both academic and musical settings, I specialize in helping students build musicianship skills (music theory, ear training, poetic interpretation, vocal technique) and expressive writing—whether they’re prepping for conservatory auditions, catching up on fundamentals, or finding their voice in a personal statement.

My approach is joyful, creative, and individualized. I combine technical instruction with real-world application, tailoring each lesson to the student’s strengths and goals. In music, that might mean strengthening solfege and rhythm sense through call-and-response games and live examples. In writing, we focus on voice, structure, and authenticity—building essays that feel true and powerful.

I’ve worked with a wide range of learners: high school and college students, working professionals, neurodivergent artists, and curious adults returning to their creative practice.

I offer both one-off sessions and ongoing lessons, including:
•Musicianship and theory tutoring (all levels)
•Essay writing and college application coaching
•Voice lessons

I’m kind, responsive, and deeply invested in your growth. Let’s get started!

Ear Training

Ear Training

I hold degrees in Voice Performance (B.M.) and Vocal Arts (M.M.) and have extensive training in solfege, interval recognition, and aural skills as part of my classical music education. I regularly use ear training in both my own performance preparation and in teaching students to build reliable pitch memory, sight-singing fluency, and intonation accuracy. My approach is playful and tailored—I love incorporating call-and-response, rhythmic clapping, and movement-based exercises to help students internalize what they hear. I work with students of all levels, from beginners to pre-college musicians.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I hold a Master’s in Vocal Arts and a Bachelor’s in Voice Performance, with extensive training in writing, storytelling, and personal expression throughout my conservatory education. I specialize in helping students—especially arts applicants—craft compelling, authentic college essays and personal statements. My approach blends structure with voice: I help students discover what they really want to say, then guide them in saying it with clarity, rhythm, and impact. Whether you’re applying to a conservatory, liberal arts school, or grad program, I can help you write with confidence and conviction.
General Music

General Music

I’m a classically trained soprano with over a decade of experience as a performer, educator, and ensemble leader. I offer creative and engaging general music instruction for beginners, young learners, and returning adults. My teaching blends musical exploration with practical skills like rhythm, melody, and listening. Lessons are joyful, flexible, and tailored to the learner.
Music History

Music History

My academic training in music includes a deep grounding in music history—from early chant and polyphony to Romantic opera and modern vocal repertoire. I help students understand not just what happened, but why it mattered.
Sight Singing

Sight Singing

I help students build sight-singing fluency through solfege, interval training, rhythm work, and real-time practice. My classical training and choral background give me strong tools for developing ear and notation skills side by side. I adapt my teaching to each student's learning style-whether visual, kinesthetic, or aural. My goal is to build confidence and musical instinct in every singer.
Voice (Music)

Voice (Music)

I hold a Master’s in Vocal Arts and a Bachelor’s in Voice Performance, with over a decade of performance and teaching experience. I specialize in expressive singing, healthy technique, and musical storytelling. Whether you’re just beginning or preparing for conservatory, I tailor lessons to support your range, artistry, and confidence—grounded in breath and freedom.
