I am a Principal Consultant specializing in education data analytics, evaluation, and research, with advanced training in quantitative and qualitative methods and over 15 years of experience in education across research, policy, and instructional contexts.

I hold a Master’s degree in International Educational Development from Teachers College, Columbia University, where my work focused on education policy, planning, and large-scale international assessments, including but not limited to TALIS and TIMSS. I also hold a Master’s degree in Education (MSEd) and have extensive experience supporting applied research, academic writing, and statistical analysis for education professionals and graduate-level learners.

My work integrates methodological rigor with pedagogical clarity. I support clients and learners in areas including:

Quantitative and qualitative research design
Statistical analysis (beginner to intermediate)
R, STATA, and SPSS for academic and applied research
Academic and professional writing
Research organization, analysis, and interpretation

In addition to my research and consulting background, I bring a strong foundation in pedagogy developed through over a decade of teaching in U.S. and international contexts. This experience allows me to break down complex analytical concepts, scaffold learning effectively, and tailor instruction to the learner’s goals, level, and field.

My approach is selective, goal-oriented, and grounded in real-world application. I work best with serious learners, graduate students, and professionals who are seeking clarity, structure, and depth in their research or analytical work.

Please note:
My work involves advance preparation and tailored instructional design for each client, which is reflected in my rates.

I am best suited for learners and professionals with defined objectives who are seeking depth, structure, and continuity. I do not offer drop-in help or exploratory sessions.

Data Analysis

Data Analysis

My experience in data analysis comes from research and consulting work in education and social science. I have conducted quantitative analyses using statistical methods such as OLS and logistic regression, multilevel modeling, and principal component analysis in STATA, SPSS, and RStudio. I have also worked with large international education datasets, including PISA, TIMSS, and TALIS, to analyze trends, evaluate programs, and interpret complex statistical outputs. I help students understand how to clean datasets, choose appropriate statistical tests, run analyses, and clearly interpret results for coursework, theses, or research projects.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have 15 years teaching childhood education grades 1-6. I focus on Curriculum Development in Childhood Education, Development Issues in Early childhood Education, Struggling Readers, Emergent to Fluent Literacy, Multicultural Education, Literacy Strategies: from Birth– 6, and How Children Learn Mathematics, Teaching Science. I have worked in private and public schools and have extensive experience in the classroom both abroad and in the USA.
R

R

R for Quantitative Research & Data Analysis Extensive experience using R for data cleaning, statistical analysis, and visualization in education research and monitoring & evaluation projects. Work with large datasets, including data wrangling, variable transformation, and reproducible analysis workflows. Statistical Analysis in R Experience conducting analyses such as: Linear and logistic regression Descriptive statistics Hypothesis testing Data exploration and diagnostics Data Wrangling & Visualization Use of packages such as: tidyverse (dplyr, tidyr, ggplot2) readr Creating publication-quality visualizations and summary tables. Applied Research Experience Use R in education policy research, monitoring and evaluation, and mixed-methods studies. Experience working with survey datasets and large quantitative datasets. Teaching & Support Experience explaining statistical concepts and guiding students through assignments, coding challenges, and data analysis workflows.
STATA

STATA

I provide support in STATA for statistics, research methods, and data analysis. I help students understand both the concepts and the practical application in STATA, including how to run analyses, interpret results, and apply them to coursework or research projects. Topics I can help with include: Understanding population vs. sample and issues of generalizability Running frequencies and calculating measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode) Measures of variability (variance, standard deviation) Hypothesis testing and statistical significance T-tests, Chi-square tests, and ANOVA Correlation analysis OLS regression and multiple regression Logistic regression Principal Component Analysis Working with gain scores and lagged variables in datasets Identifying floor and ceiling effects Handling missing data Understanding and applying causal inference concepts I can also help students interpret statistical outputs, understand assumptions behind statistical tests, and apply the correct analysis for their research questions.

Caring Tutor that has Helped Build Confidence

My middle schooler was having difficult completing writing work in class, whether it was sentences or full paragraphs. He is a very sharp student, though appears to have such anxiety with writing, and struggled so much on starting. Maria has been very patient with him, and has been able to build his confidence in writing skills, and he continues to write more with each lesson. These tutoring sessions have been exactly what he needed to build his self-assurance in this area.
