I have had approximately three years of tutoring experience in various subjects. Since September, I have worked at Grade Potential Tutoring, working with students from middle school, high school, and university in primarily Math subjects. More specifically, I have tutored in Algebra, Statistics, Geometry, Common Core, and Discrete Math. I have also had the opportunity of tutoring seniors needing help in the use of consumer hardware/software. Before that, I was involved in a research project to build an innovative geoscience gateway that would serve as an educational tool to researchers and students, utilizing Machine Learning (ML) and UI/UX design. I worked on this project from January till August. Before that, I worked at Girls Computing League, a 501(c)(3) non-profit aimed at providing a STEM and CS education to underrepresented communities in tech. There, I held several workshops to teach approximately 20 students per workshop various tech skills, such as ML, Python programming, and Web Dev. I am currently a Computer Engineering student at NYU. I previously attended the University at Buffalo (SUNY) where I majored in Computer Science. I like to work with students, especially ones who struggle in the typical academic environment, because that is related to my own experience in school. I tend to take untraditional approaches to education, for example, I ensure students do questions before the class and try it on their own before coming to me for help. That way they get a crack at the problem, instead of having me lecture them through each problem, where they usually fall bored of it. I then try to create my own problems similar to that question, so that they can solve it on their own, requiring little help from me. I like to use educational tools such as Kahoot! and Quizlet to make learning more fun through quizzes and games.
